If you’re looking for a cooling center, check out our county’s list of resources HERE. Also, be sure to triple check events in case there are last minute cancellations due to the conditions. Take care of yourselves, everyone!

Wednesday, August 5

• Annual Sunflower Festival
  9am-5pm through Aug 23, Lee Farms, Tualatin
  Celebrate summer at Lee Farms’ Sunflower Festival, where you can wander acres of blooming sunflowers, enjoy family-friendly farm attractions, and take home a bloom. Round out your visit with locally sourced food, drinks, photo opportunities, U-pick flowers, and optional experiences like picnic packages or the farm’s popular sunset dinners among the blooms.
• Art in the Park (Hidden Creek East Park) ✅
  10:30am-12pm, Hidden Creek East Park, Hillsboro
  Art in the Park combines storytelling and creativity in a fun, hands-on program for elementary and middle school students. Children will enjoy a story read in both Spanish and English before creating an art project inspired by the book, and each participant will receive age-appropriate books and a free coloring book to take home.

  Kathy Hughes features familiar, well-loved songs, making for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.
• Heritage Center 100th Anniversary Part 3: How Our Building Became the Heritage Center ✅
  1pm-2pm, Tualatin Historical Society, Tualatin
  Hear the story of how the community came together to save the historic THS building after plans to widen Boones Ferry threatened its future. Those involved, including Paul Hennon of Parks and Recreation, will share how petitions, fundraising, and expert help from Northwest Structural Moving helped give the building a new life.
• Hot Dog Wednesdays – Summer Send Off ✅
  5pm-7pm, Cedar Hills Recreation Center, Portland
  Celebrate the end of summer with an evening of family-friendly fun at Cedar Hills Recreation Center. Enjoy activities like a water slide, foam cannon, obstacle course, yard games, and more, then grab a hot dog meal and learn about upcoming fall classes, programs, and events. Weather permitting.
• Hit Machine – Concerts in the Park ✅
  5pm-8:30pm, Cook Family Park, Tigard
  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a summer evening of live music with Hit Machine at this Tigard Parks & Recreation concert. This high-energy five-piece band performs dance hits from every era, with crowd favorites from artists like Prince, Bruno Mars, AC/DC, and the Bee Gees, making it a fun night for the whole family.
• Yoga in the Park ✅
  5:30pm-6:15pm, Universal Plaza, Tigard
  Enjoy a relaxing outdoor yoga session with Parks & Rec and Samsara Yoga. Open to adults ages 18 and older, this beginner-friendly class welcomes all skill levels. Just bring a yoga mat and enjoy practicing in a beautiful outdoor setting.
• Band After Midnight – Music on the Green ✅

  Dance and sing along to the timeless hits of ABBA with Band After Midnight, a tribute band featuring musicians from some of the Northwest’s top tribute acts.   Join Broadway Rose Theatre for their production of Newsies! Follow Jack Kelly and a group of determined newsboys in Disney’s Newsies, a high-energy musical inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899. Filled with unforgettable songs, impressive dancing, and a story about friendship and standing up for what’s right, it’s a show the whole family can enjoy.
