January 9 – January 11: Weekend Washington County Events! ❄️

Hello, Washington County! 🎉

I’m learning that when the winter rainy season hits, so too does an incredible line up of live music events. If you’re looking to get out and about while staying dry and listening to some great music, this weekend has some options for you!

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

✅ means it’s a free event. If you’re enjoying a free event at a spot with food or drinks, show some love by supporting the venue!

Friday, January 9

  • Strawberry Roan – Live Music
    6pm-9pm, Oak Knoll Winery, Hillsboro

    Strawberry Roan is bringing the music for an adults-only night out, so make sure everyone in your group is 21 and over! You can grab some food from Boro Burgers on-site or bring your own snacks, but just keep in mind that outside beverages of any kind and pets are not allowed. Grab your tickets!
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
    7:30pm and various times through Jan 18, Alex L Parks Performing Arts Center, Beaverton

    Motive Theatrics is allowing Willy Wonka to open the gates at the Alex L. Parks Performing Arts Center for a production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! You can follow young Charlie Bucket and the other golden ticket winners as they explore a world of pure imagination. Just a heads-up for families: the show is full of lively music and flashing lights, and while no children are actually harmed, there are some cartoonish mishaps and surprising fates for certain characters, so use your best discretion when bringing the kiddos along.
  • Portland Youth Philharmonic Presents Camerata Winter Concert
    7:30pm, The Reser, Beaverton

    The Portland Youth Philharmonic Winter Concert is set to showcase the incredible talent of three student soloists through a vibrant and character-filled program. You’ll hear pianist Elijah Wilson bring Spanish rhythms to life, saxophonist Jacob Peizner perform a classic Glazunov concerto, and violinist Kaylee Nah take on a technically brilliant piece by Wieniawski. With additional works by Copland and Mozart rounding out the evening, it’s a wonderful mix of romantic energy, bold themes, and classical clarity that really lets these young performers shine.

Saturday, January 10

  • The Genealogical Society of Washington County ✅
    10am-12pm, Brookwood Library, Hillsboro

    Sarah Gutmann is diving into the world of “Graveyard Genealogy” to help you unearth the stories of your ancestors through some pretty fascinating detective work. You’ll learn how to hunt for family clues hidden in cemeteries and navigate historical death records like obituaries, wills, and death certificates to piece together your family tree.
  • International Day at Winter Village
    10am-3pm, 943 NE Orenco Station Loop, Hillsboro

    Hillsboro’s Winter Village is hosting a vibrant Multicultural Day, where you can watch everything from Kathak and Irish dancing to live Latin music. While you’re soaking in the performances, you can snack on Nepali dumplings or Dutch stroopwafels and even hit the ice, as regular skating sessions will be running all day long. It is a fantastic way to celebrate the diverse spirit of our community right in the heart of Orenco Station before the rink officially packs up for the season.
  • Young Willamette Writers Author Chat: Amber Finnegan ✅
    11am-12pm, Beaverton City Library, Beaverton

    Young Willamette Writers is inviting students in grades 6-12 to a special session featuring editor Amber Finnegan. You’ll get to hear a talk about the craft of writing and then jump into a writing exercise to get those creative juices flowing. You can join the group in person or register to get a Zoom link if you’d rather participate from home, but just make sure to sign up ahead of time since registration is required!
  • Read to the Dogs ✅
    11am-12:30pm, Sherwood Library, Sherwood

    Enjoy the cutest way to boost reading skills. Kids from Pre-K through elementary can sign up for a judgment-free, 20-minute session with sweet listeners like Gershwin and Missy, who happen to be excellent at sitting, staying, and listening to stories. To sweeten the deal, every visit earns you a free book from the Friends of the Library shelf, and after five sessions, you get to pick a brand-new book from the special prize box.
  • Forest Grove Pride Queer Social ✅
    12pm-1pm, Taqueria Coron, Forest Grove

    Looking to connect with the local LGBTQ+ community in Forest Grove? Taqueria Corona is hosting a monthly mixer on the second Saturday of every month. It’s a great chance to swap stories over tacos and soda, and attendees even get 30% off their meals.
  • Plant and Seed Swap ✅
    1pm-2pm, Garden Home Community Library, Portland

    In celebration of National Houseplant Appreciation Day on January 10, there’s a plant swap happening for everyone looking to grow their indoor or outdoor collections! You’re invited to bring ready-to-grow plants, cuttings, or even seeds to share with fellow green thumbs while making some new human and plant friends. Just make sure your contributions are healthy and pest-free, as they’re asking everyone to skip any wilted or dormant items to ensure everyone goes home with something great.
  • Queer Game Night ✅
    3pm-6pm, Rune & Board, Hillsboro

    Usually held on the first Saturday of every month, this inclusive game night is moving to the second Saturday just for this month. It’s a welcoming, drop-in space for anyone ages 13 and up to explore a game library filled with queer board games and TTRPGs. Whether you’re a seasoned player or totally new to the tabletop world, you’re invited to come play in a queer-friendly environment that celebrates all genders and skill levels.
  • Encanto Sing-Along
    6pm, Christian Church of Hillsboro 540 NE Edison Street, Hillsboro

    STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy is bringing the magic of the Madrigal family to Hillsboro with an interactive Encanto Sing-Along. This event is all about getting cozy and letting loose, so definitely bring your favorite beanbag, camp chair, or blankets to claim your spot on the floor. Belt out every song alongside the rest of the community while following the lyrics on the big screen. It is a fantastic, low-pressure way to be part of the show and finally talk about Bruno as much as you want.
  • Ladies Night Sip & Sing

    Oregon Fun and Boldly Fashionable Boutique are teaming! It is time to grab your girls and get dressed up for a high-energy evening of dancing, laughing, and singing your heart out to throwbacks and dance hits provided by JKDancingDJs. Grab your tickets!
  • Edgar Meyer, Tessa Lark & Joshua Roman

    Chamber Music Northwest is bringing a powerhouse trio to the stage, featuring seven-time Grammy-winning bassist Edgar Meyer, violinist Tessa Lark, and cellist Joshua Roman. This superstar group is set to perform a wide-ranging program that jumps from the classical brilliance of Bach to Meyer’s own string trios, including new music composed specifically for this inaugural tour. It’s a must-see collaboration that blends fierce classical technique with deep roots in fiddle music.

  • One Book, One Beaverton: Documentary Film Screening & Panel: “No Place to Grow Old” ✅
    2pm-4pm, Beaverton City Library, Beaverton

    “No Place to Grow Old” is a moving documentary set in Portland that follows three older adults as they navigate the difficult reality of senior homelessness. As part of the One Book, One Beaverton 2026 series, this screening highlights the resilience of those living without a home and the systemic issues that contribute to the crisis. After the film, you can stick around for an insightful panel discussion featuring Bronwyn Carver, who is featured in the film, along with Kim Marshall from Project Homeless Connect and Jes Larson from Washington County’s Housing Services Department.
  • Timmer’s Guitarmageddon ft. Jesse Samsel ✅
    5pm, Beach Hut Deli, Tigard

    Timmer’s Guitarmageddon Jam is taking over Beach Hut Deli every Sunday for an all-ages blues session featuring Quin Hanson and a weekly special guest. This week, Jesse Samsel joins the fun, and while the house band kicks things off for the first hour, the floor opens up afterward for an open jam. If you’re looking to play, make sure to arrive early because the sign-up slots are first come, first serve. The bass amp, drums, and PA are already provided.
  • Bingo ✅
    5pm, Hops on Tap, Tigard

    Hops on Tap is kicking off its first Sunday bingo night of 2026, and you might just walk away a lucky winner! It’s an all-ages event that is free to play, with check-in starting at 4:00 PM. Make a night of it by grabbing dinner and drinks while you play to show some love to the venue.
  • TUESDAY Jan 13: Pirates of Pinehurst Beer Release Party
    5pm, BearKat Brewing, Sherwood

    BearKat Brewing and the Pirates of Pinehurst are teaming up for a special release party of their Pirates of Pinehurst Pilsner! It’s a great chance to grab a tasty beer and do some good at the same time, as all sales of the pilsner on release day will be donated directly to the Sherwood Education Foundation. Even if you can’t make it to the party, $1 from every pint sold afterward will continue to go to the foundation until the kegs run dry. The Pirates of Pinehurst crew will be hanging out to celebrate, so come by, say hello, and help support local schools with a pint or two.
