We’re about to jump into May, which means it’s farmers market season! For those farmers markets that don’t run year round, you’ll find opening dates popping up right about now. If you need help discovering your local farmers market, I have a page that compiles all of the markets in the county that you can find HERE.

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

• Classical Up Close ✅

  Enjoy an intimate performance with Musicians of the Oregon Symphony in Classical Up Close, featuring world class players performing a personally curated selection of music in a relaxed, casual setting. This all ages event offers a rare chance to experience classical music in a more personal and accessible way.

  Enjoy popcorn while watching Wreck It Ralph with the community.
• Navigating Childhood Anxiety and Mood Concerns ✅
  6:30pm-8pm, Cedar Mill Library, Portland
  Learn about childhood anxiety and mood concerns in this Parent Information Series program designed for caregivers of elementary aged children. The session explores the science behind anxiety and mood changes, how they show up in kids, and offers evidence based strategies and tools to support your child and family, with time for Q&A. Available in person or on Zoom.
• Library Birthday Party ✅

  Celebrate 20 years of the North Plains Public Library at a special birthday event honoring two decades of learning, discovery, and community connection. Enjoy cupcakes, a look back at the library’s shared history, and a sparkling surprise as the evening brings together stories, memories, and celebration.
• Joe Abercrombie in Conversation With Brent Weeks
  7pm-9pm, Powell’s, Beaverton
  Join a special evening with bestselling fantasy author Joe Abercrombie, creator of The First Law trilogy, as he discusses his new novel The Devils, a darkly funny, action packed epic about a group of dangerous anti heroes sent on a grim holy mission. He will be in conversation with Brent Weeks, author of The Lightbringer series. This is a ticketed event that includes admission and a paperback copy of The Devils, distributed at the event.

  Books, crafts, sweet treats, music, and plenty of fun come together for a lively celebration where everyone is invited to join in. It’s a festive, family friendly gathering designed for community, creativity, and a good time.
• Forest Grove High School Plant Sale ✅
  10am-5pm April 30-May 2 and May 7-9, Forest Grove High School, Forest Grove
  FGHS Plant Sale is back with online pre orders available or a full on site sale. The in person sale has limited shoppers at a time, and payment by card or check only, no cash. Not all plants are listed online, so it is worth stopping by in person to see the full selection.
• Beaverton City Library Book and Media Sale ✅
  1:30pm-5:30pm (special entry-be or become a FBCL member or show teacher ID for entry), 10am-5:30pm Friday and Saturday, 12pm-5:30pm Sunday, Beaverton City Library, Beaverton
  Browse thousands of vintage and current books, DVDs, CDs, and more at the book sale benefiting the library. Special entry for Thursday for FBCL members and teachers. Sale runs various times through May 10.
• Children’s Day | Día del Niños ✅
  4pm-6pm, Cornelius Library, Cornelius
  Celebrate Children’s Day with a big family party full of circus fun, face painting, cake, and free books for everyone. Learn circus tricks from Spoon Circus in this playful, all ages event, presented in partnership with All Together Now.
• Grand Opening of the Family Peace Center of Washington County ✅
  5pm-7pm, 1100 NE Compton Dr, Hillsboro
  Celebrate the opening of The Family Peace Center of Washington County with an open house and meeting the organization’s partners. Registration requested.
