Hello, Washington County! 🎉

Well, last week was a rough one. I hope everyone was able to stay safe and healthy through the heat and the smoke ❤️ As expected, organizations throughout Spokane are working hard to help those who have been displaced from the fires and/or lost their homes. I found an article HERE that rounds up a number of ways to help, if that’s something you’re interested in. And, just because animals make everything better after weeks like this, here’s a cat photo. We found the kittens cuddling the other day and may not ever recover from the cuteness.

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

• Hillsboro Parks and Rec Fall Activities Registration 2026 Opens
  8am, Online
  Get ready for your Fall activities with Hillsboro Parks and Rec! Registration opens at 8am. For the Fall, activities run the day after Labor Day to December 31.
• Annual Sunflower Festival
  9am-5pm through Aug 23, Lee Farms, Tualatin
  Celebrate summer at Lee Farms’ Sunflower Festival, where you can wander acres of blooming sunflowers, enjoy family-friendly farm attractions, and take home a bloom. Round out your visit with locally sourced food, drinks, photo opportunities, U-pick flowers, and optional experiences like picnic packages or the farm’s popular sunset dinners among the blooms.
• Art in the Park (Magnolia Park) ✅
  10:30am-12pm, Hidden Creek East Park, Hillsboro
  Art in the Park combines storytelling and creativity in a fun, hands-on program for elementary and middle school students. Children will enjoy a story read in both Spanish and English before creating an art project inspired by the book, and each participant will receive age-appropriate books and a free coloring book to take home.
• Cal Scott and Richard Moore – Lunchtime Concert ✅
  12pm-1pm, Lake of the Commons, Tualatin
  Enjoy an evening of music and storytelling with longtime collaborators Cal Scott and Richard Moore. These talented songwriters blend memorable covers, catchy originals, and plenty of humorous banter for a fun and engaging performance.
• Foam Party ✅
  3pm-5pm, Cornelius Public Library., Cornelius
  Celebrate the end of Summer Reading and WCCLS’s 50th birthday with an outdoor foam party! Dance, play, and cool off as a giant foam cannon fills the plaza with bubbles. Expect music, fun, and plenty of chances to get wet.
• Canta Con Amigos: Sing with Friends ✅
  4pm-4:45pm, Tigard Public Library, Tigard
  Join Canta con Amigos for a bilingual sing-along filled with music, movement, and connection. This interactive program blends English and Spanish in a welcoming space where families can celebrate language, culture, and community together.
• Summer Splash Day at Schiffler Park
  4pm-7pm, Schiffler Park, Beaverton
  Cool off at Summer Splash Day at Schiffler Park with an afternoon of water-filled fun. Kids can enjoy water slides, bubbles, a live DJ, and more, while food vendors offer drinks, shave ice, and hot dog meals. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Eagle Eyes: Concerts in the Park ✅
  5pm-8:30pm, Cook Park, Tigard
  Enjoy an evening of live music with Tigard Parks & Rec featuring Eagle Eyes, a tribute band celebrating the legendary country-rock sound of the Eagles. With powerful harmonies and classic hits spanning the band’s career, this concert is sure to get you singing along and dancing. Music starts at 6:30pm.
• Yoga in the Park ✅
  5:30pm-6:15pm, Universal Plaza, Tigard
  Enjoy a relaxing outdoor yoga session with Parks & Rec and Samsara Yoga. Open to adults ages 18 and older, this beginner-friendly class welcomes all skill levels. Just bring a yoga mat and enjoy practicing in a beautiful outdoor setting.
• Sketch & Release: Black Artists in Rural Oregon ✅
  6pm-7pm, Aloha Community Library, Aloha
  Experience Sketch and Release, a multimedia event highlighting Black creatives living and working in rural Oregon. Featuring a filmed docu-series episode, live storytelling, and community conversation, this program explores creativity, identity, place, and belonging through personal stories.
• Power of Place: An America 250 Presentation ✅
  6:30pm-7:30pm, Bethany Library, Portland
  Explore Oregon’s breathtaking landscapes through acclaimed photographer Peter Marbach’s Power of Place exhibition. From the coastline and mountains to the High Desert and beloved landmarks, this collection celebrates the places that inspire, connect, and shape our experiences.
• Disney’s Newsies
  7:30pm, Deb Fennell Auditorium, Tigard
  Join Broadway Rose Theatre for their production of Newsies! Follow Jack Kelly and a group of determined newsboys in Disney’s Newsies, a high-energy musical inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899. Filled with unforgettable songs, impressive dancing, and a story about friendship and standing up for what’s right, it’s a show the whole family can enjoy.

• BEE Amazed: Museum of Natural & Cultural History ✅

  Discover the fascinating world of Oregon bees through hands-on science activities and fun bug exploration. Learn about mason bees, cuckoo bees, mining bees, longhorn bees, honey bees, and more as you explore these tiny but mighty creatures. Designed for grades K-5.
• Lunch and Fun at Langer Park! ✅
  11am-12pm, Langer Park, Sherwood
  Spend time at Langer Park with the Sherwood YMCA, Sherwood Public Library, and WCCLS for summer fun. Enjoy lunch from the Y, a craft from the library, and a free book for every child who attends.
• Calico Bones: Music in the Plaza ✅
  5pm-7pm, Universal Plaza, Tigard
  Spend a summer evening at Universal Plaza with live music from Calico Bones, plus delicious food from local vendors Wow Cow, Paradise Grindz, and Exotic Eggrollz. Bring your friends and family for a night of music, community, and good times.
• Shute Park Library Mural Celebration ✅

  Celebrate the unveiling of Shute Park Library’s new mural, Stories Bring Us Together: A Journey of Diversity and Imagination. Meet mural artist Christian Tellez Garcia (Wesi), learn about the inspiration behind the design, and take a guided tour of the public art collection around Shute Park.
