Hello, Washington County! 🎉

I’m absolutely loving the range of events we’re having this weekend! An inclusive talent show, a massive picnic, Shakespeare, tons of music, and more movies in the parks. It’s always fun putting the event list together, but I definitely appreciate it when the events are so entertaining. Fill up your weekend calendar and have a great time!

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

Friday, August 21

• Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival: Music at the Hearth ✅
  10:30am-11:30am, Tualatin Public Library, Tualatin
  The Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival brings together beloved classics and contemporary works by composers including Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Jessie Montgomery, Reena Esmail, and artist-in-residence Lei Liang. The series offers accessible, thoughtful chamber music in a warm setting. On August 21, the library parking lot will be closed for repairs, with parking available across the street.
• National Night Out + Flicks at the Park (Hoppers) ✅
  4pm-11pm, Mariposa Park, Cornelius
  Make a whole evening of it at Mariposa Park as National Night Out and Flicks at the Park team up for a night of community fun. National Night Out runs from 4–7pm, followed by a scavenger hunt, free popcorn, movie swag, and a showing of Hoppers (PG) after dark. Bring a blanket and settle in for the movie once the sun goes down.
• The Reflex: Music on the Lawn
  6pm-9pm, Oak Knoll Winery, Hillsboro
  Get ready for an outdoor concert with The Reflex, bringing high-energy music for a fun, family-friendly evening. Food trucks will be on-site, and you can bring your own food, but outside beverages are not allowed. Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome, and guests under 21 attend free.
• Dance Hall Days: Concerts in the Park ✅
  6:30pm-8:30pm, Tualatin Community Park, Tualatin
  Dancehall Days brings powerhouse musicianship and a wide-ranging mix of music to the stage. After performing everywhere from San Francisco and the Bahamas to the U.K., Maui, and Sun Valley, this seasoned group has built a reputation for energetic, authentic performances.
• A Midsummer Night’s Dream
  7pm, STAR Society, Sherwood
  Step into a 1920s New York-inspired version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where lovers, fairies, and performers collide in a jazz-filled adventure. This lively take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy brings plenty of music, dance, and magical mischief.
• The Golden Age
  7:30pm, Tualatin Heritage Center, Tualatin
  Step into a faded Manhattan townhouse where literary secrets, family drama, and ambition collide. An aging socialite, rumored to have inspired Daisy Buchanan, becomes the target of an ambitious young academic searching for a supposedly unpublished chapter of The Great Gatsby. What follows is a tangled story of manipulation, romance, and long-held secrets.
• Robert Meade – Live Music ✅
  7:30pm-9:30pm, Murrayhill Taphouse, Beaverton
  Spend the evening by the lake with live music from Robert Meade, whose smooth vocals and versatile setlist span classic rock, pop, and acoustic favorites.
• How to Train Your Dragon: Pix in the Park ✅
  7:30pm-10:30pm, Hidden Creek Park West, Hillsboro
  Enjoy an outdoor movie night with How to Train Your Dragon (PG) on the big screen. Bring a blanket or low-back chair, grab some concessions or pack your own food and non-alcoholic drinks, and arrive at 7:30pm for a pre-movie performance by Music4Harmony. The movie begins at dusk.
• Zootopia 2: Movies in the Park ✅
  8:30pm-10:30pm, Stella Olsen Park, Sherwood
  Head to Stella Olsen Park for an evening under the stars with Zootopia 2 (PG). Come early for a 7:30pm performance by Sherwood Dance Academy’s Showstoppers, plus a craft from Sherwood Center for the Arts, then settle in with a blanket and picnic for the movie. Leashed pets are welcome, but alcohol and smoking are not permitted in the park.

Saturday, August 22

• Ford Truck Day at Portland Cars and Coffee ✅
  8am-11am, Langer’s, Sherwood
  Calling all Ford truck fans! This gathering celebrates generations of Ford trucks, from the 1917 Model TT through the 14 generations of F-Series pickups. With space for 350 vehicles, parking is expected to fill quickly, so arrive early.
• Girls in the Game ✅
  9am-11:30am, Tualatin Hills Athletic Center, Beaverton
  Girls in the Game offers a morning of sports clinics for ages 11 and up, with THPRD coaches leading soccer, basketball, and volleyball sessions. Choose your sport from 9 to 10:30am, then hear from keynote speaker and Life After High School LLC founder Eden Gold. Accompanying adults are welcome and do not need to register.
• Herbs for Sun and Shade ✅
  10am-12pm, WCMGA Learning Garden at Jenkins Estate, Beaverton
  Explore the Herb Spiral at Jenkins Estate, home to more than 40 herbs suited to the Northwest climate. This class covers what to plant and where, along with tips for harvesting, using, and storing herbs. You’ll also learn how to grow herbs in containers when space is limited.
• Summer Bash
  10am-4pm, Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals, Hillsboro
  Spend the day at the Rice for a Summer Bash filled with family-friendly activities, including face painting, lawn games, a dinosaur bounce castle, geode cracking, a goat petting zoo, museum exploration, and more. Bring the whole family for a hands-on summer adventure and a chance to connect with the community.
• Better Together Talent Show ✅
  11am-12:30pm, Beaverton City Library, Beaverton
  Show off your talents at the Miah Families Better Together Talent Showcase! Sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, perform magic, read poetry, or share any special talent in a welcoming celebration of creativity and connection. Duos are encouraged, so team up with a friend, sibling, neighbor, caregiver, family member, or someone new. RSVP is required for both performers and attendees.
• Pop-Up Maker Space Launch ✅
  11am-1pm, Sherwood Public Library, Sherwood
  Explore, create, and try something new at this monthly pop-up Makerspace for youth and families ages 3 and up. The Makerspace cart is stocked with craft supplies plus a sewing machine, 3D pens, Cricut machine, comb binder, button maker, and more. Most machines are intended for ages 7+, while younger kids can explore the other materials.
• Musical Playground ✅
  11am-2pm, The Reser, Beaverton
  Let kids explore music from around the world at Musical Playground, a hands-on event for children ages 10 and under. Young musicians can try drums, guitars, pianos, violins, ukuleles, and more at interactive music stations with guidance from trained instructors. It’s an inclusive space for kids to experiment, play, and make music together.
• Hello Summer Saturday Market ✅
  11am-4pm, Zesti Food Carts, Forest Grove
  Spend a Saturday browsing local makers, small businesses, food vendors, and seasonal finds at Zesti’s rotating open-air market. Each month brings a new mix of handmade goods and unique products, along with food carts, drinks, and a full bar. Come early to shop the full selection, then stick around for live music and a laid-back golden-hour hangout.
• Roloff Farms Summer Market
  3pm-8pm, Roloff Farms, Hillsboro
  Spend a summer day on the farm with sunflowers, flower crowns, live music, local vendors, animals, and plenty more. This first-ever summer market is a chance to shop, explore, and soak up the farm atmosphere.
• FLIP’s Night Out
  4pm-7pm, FLIP Museum, Hillsboro
  Kids can enjoy a few hours of fun with a pizza party, veggies, and time to socialize while parents get some time to themselves. The event is designed for potty-trained children who are comfortable being without their adults for a few hours. If your child is under 4 but you think they’d be a good fit, reach out to the team to discuss. Grab tickets now!
• Skates in the Park ✅
  5pm-7:30pm, Center Street Park, Beaverton
  Roll into Center Street Park for an all-ages afternoon of skating and fun with THPRD and the Rose City Rollers. The Skatemobile will bring more than 150 pairs of skates and gear, with pro skaters on hand to share tips for beginners and experienced skaters. Stick around for DJ Will, yard games, face painting, nature and recreation activities, and plenty of space to picnic. All types of wheels are welcome, including skates, rollerblades, scooters, and bikes.
• Last Chance Dance Party with DJ Meadia 
  6pm-10pm, Urban River Spirits, Hillsboro
  Break out the neon and big hair for the Last Chance Dance Party, a totally ’80s throwback to close out the summer. DJ Meadia will keep the party going with unforgettable music, bold colors, and plenty of reasons to dance like it’s 1985.

• Jigsaw Puzzle Swap ✅
  12pm-1pm (Vouchers required), Tigard Public Library, Tigard
  1pm-1:30pm (No vouchers required), Tigard Public Library, Tigard
  Give your finished puzzles a new home and pick up some fresh ones at this community puzzle exchange. Bring complete puzzles in their original boxes to the 2nd Floor Reference Desk from August 16–22 to receive a voucher for each puzzle. On August 23, use your vouchers to choose new puzzles, with any remaining puzzles opening to everyone from 1–1:30pm.
• Picnic in the Park ✅
  12pm-4pm, Beaverton City Park, Beaverton
  Pack a picnic blanket or lawn chair and head to Beaverton City Park for an afternoon of live music, local food, and community fun. The event features performances by Ben Grace Music and Otto Lange, food trucks, lawn games, family activities, a face painter, and a small beer garden. It’s also a chance to support local musicians and businesses.
• Your Job Offer ✅
  2pm-3:30pm, Beaverton City Library, Beaverton
  Learn how to evaluate a job offer, clarify terms, negotiate collaboratively, and respond professionally. This fifth and final workshop in the Summer 2026 Job Hunting Workshop series also wraps up the key takeaways from the full series. Registration encouraged.
• The Leadertainment Foundation & The Reser Present: 2026 Star Awards ✅

  Celebrate Pacific Northwest culture, creativity, leadership, and community impact at the 2026 Star Awards.   Get ready for live music, local food, and plenty of room to dance. This week, Baz Moto brings an energetic mix of Afrobeat, reggae, funk, and global rhythms to keep the crowd moving. Wine, beer, and cider will be available for purchase.

Inner Journey Sculpture Dedication ✅

Celebrate the dedication of Inner Journey, a bronze sculpture by R.W. Bane gifted by Barbara Swanson Sanders, a retired teacher and librarian whose longtime commitment to literacy and education has helped shape the Hillsboro community.
