Hello, Washington County! 🎉

I don’t need a rabbit, and I really don’t need two. That said, whenever there are adoption events for animals of any kind that I want to include in the newsletter, I do stop for a while to look at their profiles and think about how squishy all of their little noses are. This week, the THPRD Cedar Hills Recreation Center is having a rabbit adoption event, and they are CUTE! My favs are Bert and Ernie, a bonded pair that have ears for days and the squishiest rolls. Feel free to get lost on their website like I did, or head out to the event and see if you come home with any of these cutie pies.

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

• Earthwise Crew: Tualatin’s Climate Action Plan ✅

• Department Diaries: Hillsboro Storytime Edition ✅

  Join us for a special community storytime with water play in partnership with the Water Department. Be ready to get wet as part of this four-part storytime series celebrating Hillsboro’s 150th anniversary and the people who help keep the city running.

• Line Dance Night with Dance Your Boots Off & Pro DJs

  Kick up your heels with a beginner-friendly line dancing lesson led by Shirley Rossetti of Dance Your Boots Off, then stick around for a full evening of country and pop favorites with Pro DJs.   Join the Treekeepers of Washington County for a tree walk! Explore the riparian forest and wetlands behind Beaverton’s St. Andrew Lutheran Church. The walk follows Johnson Creek, with time off-trail through woods and wetlands, including small logs, a creek crossing, and a return along a wood-chipped trail to the Sanctuary of the Firs and nearby beaver dams.Sign up on the website.
• April Farms Lavender Festival and Artisan Fair ✅
  10am-6pm Saturday and Sunday, April Farms, Gaston
  Celebrate lavender season at April Farms’ Lavender Festival with blooming fields, local vendors, handmade goods, and plenty of summer fun. You can pick your own lavender, join a wreath-making class, enjoy shave ice and local honey, and spend the day shopping and exploring with family and friends.
• Repair Fair ✅

  Got something broken and collecting dust? Bring it to the Washington County Repair Fair, where skilled volunteers will help fix it or at least give it their best shot. Register ahead so they can match you with the right fixer, and if you’re handy yourself, you can volunteer and put those skills to good use.
• Maker’s Market ✅
  12pm-4pm, Vertigo Brewing, Hillsboro
  Shop a one-day-only summer market featuring more than a dozen local artists and makers selling ceramics, crochet, baked goods, stained glass, prints, photography, jewelry, soaps, floral art, and more. Habu Smoke Cart will also be on site serving Hawaiian BBQ while you browse.
• Wine Festival
  1pm-7pm, Helvetia Farm Market, Hillsboro
  Spend a summer afternoon at the Helvetia Farm Market Wine Festival, featuring 10+ local wineries pouring reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling wines.   Meet adorable adoptable rabbits at this Rose City Rabbit Rescue adoption event, where you can learn about the adoption process and meet both single rabbits and bonded pairs. If you already have a spayed/neutered, vaccinated rabbit, you can also register in advance for bunny speed dating to help find them a compatible companion.
