Hello, Washington County! 🎉
The range of events happening this weekend is really fun. A scrapbook convention, a block party at the Hillsboro Airport, an Eagles tribute, and tons of Halloween themed activities. No matter your tastes, I bet you’ll find something fun to do.
I’m looking to partner with some local businesses! If you love this community and want to be featured in the Compass, check out this page ☺️
Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.
✅ means it’s a free event. If you’re enjoying a free event at a spot with food or drinks, show some love by supporting the venue!

SwapBook! started in 2011 in a land far, far away (Mumbai actually) when a bibliophile wanted to meet people who talked about books without having the pressure of reading one particular book or author. Six people met in a cozy little cafe in the city and loved the idea to the hilt. SwapBook! has since then hosted umpteen meets in Mumbai and went on to open chapters in other Indian cities including a chapter in Amsterdam. Today, six cities host a SwapBook! meet every month with hundreds of members discussing books online and offline.
SwapBook! now seeks to recreate the same magic and bonhomie in Hillsboro. If you identify as a serious or casual reader, read fiction and/or non-fiction (or both) and have thoughts to share about it; you’re welcome at the SwapBook! table. Come as you are, you don’t need to read a particular book or author to belong. RSVP at the link. - Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest ✅
