Hello, Washington County! 🎉

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone who celebrates! This week, you’ll find a lot of events to share with the mother figures in your life, or whoever you plan to enjoy this beautiful weekend with. There are theater productions, concerts, and even a book event with the co-founder of Salt & Straw (uh, yes, please!).

Thursday, May 8

  • Sherwood Wine Walk
    4pm-8pm, Check in at Cooper Mountain Ale Works, Sherwood

    Stroll through Old Town Sherwood for wine tastings from 12 Willamette Valley wineries and 1 distillery. Ticket includes wine glass and tastings while you visit local businesses. Perfect pre-Mother’s Day evening treat for shopping and sipping.
  • Mother’s Day Pua Makeke
    6:30pm-8:30pm and May 9th from 11am-1pm, 9725 SW Beaverton-Hillsalde Highway, Suite 115, Beaverton

    Join Ka Lei Haliʻa O Ka Lokelani for Pua Makeke, a flower-arranging event to honor mothers in your ʻohana. Enjoy a creative, community-centered gathering filled with aloha as you craft meaningful floral gifts. All are welcome to participate.
  • Jaysea Lynn Author Event
    7pm, Powell’s Books, Beaverton

    Jaysea Lynn’s For Whom the Belle Tolls is a spicy romantasy debut set in a vibrant Afterlife where demons, deities, and the fae collide. When Lily dies and lands in Hell, she turns her customer service skills into a job helping sort souls, until a smoldering demon general named Bel sparks something deeper.   • HOLUS BOLUS Live Music

    HOLUS BOLUS is the one-man band project of Tom Boylan, who layers acoustic guitar, drums, and effects pedals live to create a psychedelic groove-rock sound. Described as a “One-Man-Psychedelic-Acoustiloop” artist, he builds each song piece by piece into a full, immersive performance that’s both modern and rooted in classic looping artistry.
  • Boeing Boeing: A Nonstop Comedy Farce
    7:30pm, and various times through May 25th, 18850 SW Alexander St, Aloha

    Time-travel to a 1960 Paris apartment for a turbulent immersive experience with three flight attendant fiancées and one bachelor.

Friday, May 9

  • Spring Wipeout
    6pm-8:30pm, Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center, Beaverton

    Giant inflatable wipeout obstacle course in the pool. Regular drop-in rates apply with normal open swim rules. Must pass swim test before participating. Children under 7 need adult in water; under 10 need adult in building.
  • Eileen Garvin in Conversation with Gabriel Urza
    7pm, Powell’s Books, Beaverton

    Author Eileen Garvin presents Crow Talk, a tender new novel set in the Pacific Northwest about healing, friendship, and the power of nature. When a reclusive ornithologist, a grieving Irish musician, and her selectively mute son cross paths in a remote lakeside community, an injured baby crow helps bring them together. Garvin will appear in conversation with Gabriel Urza, author of The White Death.
  • Spongebob the Musical
    7pm and various times through May 25, HART Theatre, Hillsboro

    SpongeBob and the residents of Bikini Bottom face the possible destruction of their entire world in this high-stakes, chaotic adventure. Just when things seem hopeless, an unlikely hero steps up to save the day in a story full of surprises, courage, and heart.
  • Unit Souzou presents Constant State of Otherness
    7:30pm, Walters Cultural Arts Center, Hillsboro

    This performance explores othering and alienation through taiko, Japanese folk dance, song, and personal narratives. Six performers guide audiences through a four-part journey of isolation and displacement, resisting simplistic cultural translations while using drums, voice, and movement to connect with our universal longing to belong.

Saturday, May 10

  • Hagg Lake Road Runs – 5K, 10K, 10.5 Mile, & Kids’ Run
    7:30am, Bobcat Cove, Hagg Lake, Gaston

    Hagg Lake Park recreational event featuring four races: 5K, 10K, 10.5 Mile runs/walks, and Kids’ Run. Enjoy gentle hills and natural beauty. 5K, 10K, and 10.5 mile run start at 8:30am, 10.5 mile walk at 7:30am, and Kids’ Run at 9:45am.
  • Hillsboro Police Shred Event
    8am-1pm (or until trucks are full), across from 3083 NE 49th Place, Hillsboro

    Bring your sensitive documents to be securely shredded at this free event. There’s a three-box/bag limit, and paper items (staples and paper clips okay) will be accepted. Please avoid plastic, binders, disks, or non-paper items. Monetary donations benefit the Hillsboro Police Cadet Program.
  • Beaverton Neighborhood Household Waste Collection Event
    9am-2pm, Beaverton Christian Church, Beaverton

    Metro is hosting a free household hazardous waste collection event to help residents safely dispose of items like paint, batteries, pesticides, automotive products, and medical sharps (no medications). These items shouldn’t go in regular trash. Check the Metro website for the full list of accepted items, how to prepare your drop-off, and the spring event schedule:

  • Mercy Watson to the Rescue
    11am and 1pm May 10, and 11, Beaverton Civic Theatre 12375 SW 5th Street, Beaverton

    Based on the books by Kate DeCamillo. Mr. and Mrs. Watson believe their new home at 54 Deckawoo Drive is perfect for their family, including their beloved pig, Mercy. However, neighbor Eugenia Lincoln stirs up trouble when she learns about Mercy, resulting in comic chaos and unintended heroism. The story features plenty of humor, including a love for hot buttered toast.
  • Mother’s Day at M&M Marketplace
