If you’ve been procrastinating on Halloween fun, this is the weekend to get caught up. We have a number of spooky fun events around the county that are sure to get you ready for the 31st!

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

Friday, October 23

  • Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale: Friends Member Discount Day ✅
    9:30am-5:30pm, Forest Grove City Library, Forest Grove

    Get cozy with a new read or twenty at the Friends of the Forest Grove Library book sale! Browse hundreds of vintage and current books, DVDs, CDs, and more while supporting the library with your purchase. Friday is Friends Member Discount Day.
  • Teen Time: Anime Afternoon ✅
    1pm-3pm, Shute Park Library, Hillsboro

    Watch anime, talk manga, and draw together at this casual gathering. Bring your suggestions for what to watch and read!
  • SpooOooky Night Market ✅
    5pm, Zesti Food Carts, Forest Grove

    Spend Friday night browsing local makers and small businesses, grabbing dinner from the food carts, and enjoying live hits by Vinyl Echos. There’s also a full bar, and costumes are encouraged.
  • Pumpkin Carving ✅
    5pm-6:30pm, Cornelius Public Library, Cornelius

    Design and carve your own Jack-O-Lantern at the library! Pumpkins are provided, so bring your creativity and come up with your own spooky design. For teens.
  • Puzzle Swap ✅
    6pm-7pm, Garden Home Community Library, Portland

    Drop in and find a new-to-you jigsaw puzzle! Puzzles of all shapes, sizes, and difficulty levels will be available for all ages. Bringing a puzzle to swap? Please make sure it’s in good condition, in its original box, with all pieces sealed in a bag inside. No need to tape the box.
  • Teen Movie Night ✅
    6pm-8pm, Tualatin Public Library, Tualatin

    Teens can hang out at the library on Friday evenings for movies, board games, and other fun activities. Be in the Teen Room by 6pm to attend, as there is no late entry. Parents will pick up teens from the parking lot behind the library at 8pm.
  • Fall Fest & Maze ✅
    6:30pm-8pm, Cedar Mill Library, Portland

    Explore a library maze, play games, and enjoy more activities at this after-hours event. Costumes are encouraged!
  • The Woman In Black
    7:30pm, The Vault Theater, Hillsboro

    Bag&Baggage presents The Woman in Black, Stephen Mallatratt’s chilling stage adaptation of Susan Hill’s celebrated ghost story. Set in a remote English village, the play follows a young lawyer uncovering the secrets of a recently deceased client and the vengeful presence that stands in his way. Just two actors portray all the characters in this atmospheric and relentless Halloween production.
  • Alice in Wonderland Jr.
    7:30pm, HART Theatre, Hillsboro

    Follow Alice down the rabbit hole as she journeys through Wonderland in this 60-minute stage adaptation of the classic Disney film and Lewis Carroll stories. Along the way, she meets beloved characters including the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar, Mad Hatter, and Queen of Hearts while discovering her own path home. Featuring favorites like “The Unbirthday Song” and “Painting the Roses Red,” plus new songs from the 2010 live-action film.
  • Black Belt Eagle Scout
    7:30pm, The Walters, Hillsboro

    Experience indie rock from Black Belt Eagle Scout, led by Swinomish/Iñupiaq songwriter and guitarist Katherine Paul. Blending indie rock, dream pop, shoegaze, Pacific Northwest grunge, and Indigenous musical influences, Paul’s richly textured guitar work and evocative vocals explore identity, community, resilience, healing, and connection to place. Her dynamic live performances move from quiet reflection to immersive waves of cathartic release.
  • Gina DeNoble – Live Music ✅
    7:30pm-9:30pm, Murrayhill Taphouse, Beaverton

    Portland singer-songwriter Gina DeNoble brings a rich, soulful voice and heartfelt songwriting to the stage. After a 15-year break from live performance, she returned in 2023 and has since performed across the region, including at Northwest Folklife Festival, Breitenbush Hot Springs, and Washougal Songcraft Festival. Her debut album, Wanderer’s Paradise, was inspired by travels through Washington, Canada, and Alaska.

  • Repair Fair ✅

    Got something broken and collecting dust? Bring it to the Washington County Repair Fair, where skilled volunteers will help fix it or at least give it their best shot. Register ahead so they can match you with the right fixer, and if you’re handy yourself, you can volunteer and put those skills to good use.
  • Prescription Drug Take Back Event ✅
    10am-2pm, Sherwood Police Department, Sherwood

    10am-2pm, Tualatin Police Department, Tualatin
    Safely dispose of unwanted medications at this collection event and help protect your family, community, and environment. Bring expired or unused prescription and over-the-counter medicines, medications that didn’t work or are no longer needed, medicine from deceased family members, and unknown tablets or capsules. Leave medicines in their original containers if possible. Thermometers, needles, liquids, and medical waste are not accepted.
  • Howl O’Ween Canine Costume Contest ✅
    10:30am-12pm, Potso Dog Park, Tigard

    Dress up your pup for Tigard Parks & Rec’s annual Howl O’Ween Canine Costume Contest. Compete for prizes in categories including Best in Show, most creative costume, best family/group costume, best character costume, cutest costume, and best human/dog look-alike. Check-in begins at 10:30am, with judging promptly at 11am. Arrivals after 11am won’t be eligible to enter.
  • HalloWetlands
    11am-4pm, Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, Hillsboro

    Celebrate Halloween at Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve with Halloween crafts, creepy and crawly critters, the Wicked Wetlands Trick-or-Treat Trail, mad scientist shows, games, prizes, and more. Come in costume or just come ready for a frightfully fun event for all ages.
  • Olea Vineyards Pinots and Pumpkins 6th Annual Fall Harvest Party
    12pm-5pm, Olea Vineyards, Sherwood

    Celebrate the 2026 harvest and 10 years of winemaking at Olea Vineyards during the 6th Annual Pinots and Pumpkins Fall Harvest Event. Enjoy an afternoon of friends, food, and wine, including end-of-summer favorites, newly released wines, and a farewell to some longtime best-sellers. Small bites are included with your ticket.
  • Diwali Bazaar & Celebration ✅

  • Pumpkin Bob

    Take a swim with pumpkins at Pumpkin Bob, a fun family event where every ticketed child gets to take home a pumpkin. Enjoy snacks, games, prizes, and mermaids, with one pumpkin per ticketed guest. Children under 7 or under 43 inches from the chin down must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
  • Halloween Hoopla
    1:30pm, Fraga Farm, Gales Creek

    Celebrate Halloween on the farm with a goat hike, apple roasting, festive Danish pancake balls, chùvre, and trick-or-treating with the goats. You’ll also get to dress up the goats in costumes and hand out treats. The event is all ages, costumes are encouraged, and refreshments are provided. Groups are kept small, so get your tickets early. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, as this is a working farm with uneven ground and farm animals.

  • Makerspace: 5th Anniversary ✅

    Celebrate five years of the Tualatin Public Library Makerspace with hands-on projects using several machines, plus a group art project. The first 50 attendees will receive a tote bag and heat transfer vinyl to decorate it, and six lucky people will win craft kits. All ages welcome.

  • Jack-O-Float

    Registered participants can choose a pumpkin to take home from the floating pumpkin patch, then enjoy a recreation swim, craft project, cookies, and cider. Children under 7 must have an adult with them in the water. Adults are free with child registration.
  • Everything Funky: Stranger Things Night Market ✅

    Enter the Upside Down at the Everything Funky Neighborhood Night Market for a Stranger Things-themed evening of shopping, spooky fun, and family-friendly activities. Paint a pumpkin, brave the haunted maze, shop local vendors, enter the raffle, and enjoy activities for kids and families. BOOverton offers family-friendly trick-or-treating, festive activities, and plenty of community spirit, with downtown businesses handing out candy, hosting activities, and setting up tables in the commons. Kids can also enjoy activities in The Dinnings, including a Pumpkin Carving Contest Fundraiser. Costumes are encouraged!
  • Walters Rental Open House ✅
    1pm-4pm, The Walters, Hillsboro

    Planning a wedding, celebration, meeting, memorial, or special event? Tour the Walters Cultural Arts Center, explore its rental spaces, learn about hosting options, and meet the team. Enjoy light refreshments while you see the venue and imagine your next event.
