Hello, Washington County! 🎉

Last weekend was a bit quiet, but I guess it was because we needed to rest up for this weekend. Holy moly, there’s a parade, fair, show, or party to fill up more time than humanly possible. And, what I love is that so many of the events are really infused with community pride. Heck, yeah, let’s get out there and love our cities this weekend!

Always check the event source before heading out, as details can change last minute. I collect events and create this list by hand, so events aren’t automatically updated if there’s a change.

Friday, September 11

• 9/11 Commemorative Blood Drive ✅

  Sign up to save lives by donating blood.
• Earthwise Crew: Southern Africa: Wildlife and Wild Places ✅
  1pm-2pm, Juanita Pohl Center, Tualatin
  Explore the wild places and wildlife of southern Africa with Dr. Rob Wiedenmann, from Namibia’s vast Etosha National Park to the crashing surf of the Cape of Good Hope. This presentation highlights the region’s diverse landscapes, including fields of wildflowers, and the equally diverse wildlife that calls them home.
• STEM Cell Phone Stand ✅
  5:30pm-6:30pm, Cornelius Public Library, Cornelius
  Design and build your own cellphone stand in the makerspace using simple materials. Create a hands-free stand that fits your needs and gives your hands a break. This program is for ages 13–18.
• Heritage Evening
  5:30pm-8:30pm, Tualatin Historical Society, Tualatin
  Celebrate the Heritage Center’s 100th birthday at its only fundraiser of the year. The evening includes heavy appetizers and sweets, Northwest wine, beer and other drinks, Tualatin-through-the-decades trivia and prizes, live jazz by Don Schlesinger, and a wine pull, gift cards, and raffle with prizes up to $500. Mayor Frank Bubenik will host and MC, and guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite decade. Advance reservations are appreciated.
• Meet the Artists: Hispanic Heritage Month ✅
  6:30pm-7:30pm, Cornelius Public Library, Cornelius
  Explore the creativity of Hispanic artists at the Hispanic Heritage Art Month Exhibition 2026, featuring a diverse collection of artwork in a variety of styles and techniques. Each piece reflects its creator’s unique voice, offering an opportunity for reflection, connection, and celebration of cultural diversity. This event is for adults.

  Get ready for a dance floor, great food and drinks, and community vibes while listening to the Craig Shannon Band!
• Bag&Baggage Present Barefoot in the Park
  7:30pm and various times through Sep 20, The Vault Theater, Hillsboro
  Newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter are about to discover that marriage can be wonderfully, disastrously hilarious in Neil Simon’s classic comedy Barefoot in the Park. Set in a fifth-floor New York City walk-up, the play explores love, compromise, and the chaos of realizing you might not be quite as compatible as you thought. Fast, funny, and joyful, it’s B&B’s first production of a Neil Simon play.

  Step into the Kit Kat Club for Theatre in the Grove’s 55th season opener, Cabaret. Set in Berlin during the final years of the Weimar Republic, this dark comedy follows American writer Cliff Bradshaw as he becomes entangled with nightclub performer Sally Bowles and the seductive world of the Kit Kat Club, while political extremism and social upheaval reshape the world outside. Parental guidance is suggested.

Saturday, September 12

• Smart Driver Course
  8:15am-4:15pm, King City Civic Center, King City
  The smart driver courses offer participants a refresher course designed to help drivers 50+ years old to remain mobile and independent as they age within an environment of continual changes to us, our vehicles, and our roads while remaining healthy and accommodating changes in health, remaining a safer (smarter) driver, and remaining mobile and independent without the need to drive. The course is open to anyone. This is a 6 hour course. The fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for nonmembers. Those participants over 55 will be eligible for an insurance discount.
• Second Saturday Social Hour ✅
  9am-10am, Aloha Community Library, Aloha
  The Aloha Community Library’s Social Hour now meets twice a month, on the second Saturday and/or last Tuesday. Stop by for coffee, refreshments, and conversation with others looking to connect and build community. To help keep the space welcoming for everyone, please save political and religious discussions for other venues.
• Dawn Carlile  “Death Records: Medical Terminology and Epidemics” ✅

  The Genealogy Society of Washington County (GSWCO) presents free presentations on genealogy topics each month from September through June. In September’s presentation, learn about deciphering the cause of death and those funny numeric codes on death certificates can lead to a better understanding of your ancestor’s death. There are many epidemics that we should be aware of that affected our ancestors’ lives. Having just lived through the COVID epidemic, we can relate to the epidemics of past generations. • Beaverton Celebration Parade ✅

  Get ready for Beaverton Pops, A Burst of Fun! This year’s parade celebrates all things that burst with fun, with community floats, walking groups, bands, performers, large vehicles, bikes, and more. The parade starts at Griffith Park, travels along 5th Street past the Beaverton Library, turns left onto Menlo Drive, and ends at Schiffler Park.
• Family Create & Connect: Sculpture Challenge ✅

  Spend the morning making art at the Walters during Sculpture Challenge, a drop-in workshop for all ages. Create with friends and family while exploring materials and storytelling.
• Pitcher Plants and Waterwise Wonders ✅

  Explore the fascinating world of carnivorous and drought-tolerant plants with Washington County Master Gardeners. Learn about pitcher plants, waterwise plants, their growing requirements and care, then try nature journaling with simple prompts and materials. The workshop also includes a guided tour of the Learning Garden’s pitcher plant bed and Water Wise area.
• With Love’s 3rd Annual Car Show

  Join With Love for its 3rd Annual Car Show, where a love of cars helps support children in foster care and the families caring for them. Every registration, sponsorship, and donation helps provide essentials like clothing, shoes, diapers, and school supplies to local children and families. Come check out the cars, connect with the community, and support a great cause.
• Downtown Tigard Street Fair ✅

  The 13th Annual Tigard Street Fair takes over Downtown Tigard for a full day of family-friendly fun, with local businesses, nonprofits, and organizations filling the streets. Check out the family fun area, food and drink vendors, and live entertainment throughout the day.
• Walking Meditation ✅

  Learn about loneliness, connection, and ways to build stronger community in this presentation by Kera Magarill, Washington County Mental Health Promotion and Prevention Coordinator. Explore the biology of connection, how to break the shame and stigma around loneliness, the power of small moments of connection, and practical tools for starting new connections and deepening existing relationships.
• Bethany Village Oktoberfest ✅
  1pm-5pm, Bethany Village
  Break out your Lederhosen and Dirndls for the annual Bethany Village Oktoberfest! Spend the afternoon with live music, German-inspired food, a large Oktoberfest beer tent, local small business vendors, and more.
• Beaverton Street Eats
  2pm-6pm, SW Lombard Ave & SW 1st St, Beaverton
  Take a bite out of Downtown Beaverton at the inaugural Street Eats Beaverton, a celebration of local restaurants, food businesses, music, and community. Your tasting passport includes six curated food tastings from participating businesses, plus live music, a beer garden featuring local beverages, passport prizes and giveaways, and a family-friendly atmosphere. All proceeds support the Downtown Beaverton Association and its work to create vibrant events, public spaces, and programs for the downtown community.
• Dear Stranger ✅

  Miss the days of letter writing? Dear Stranger, an Oregon Humanities project, connects Oregonians through anonymous letters to share beliefs, ideas, and experiences. Learn about this year’s theme, then spend some time writing together. Letter writing supplies will be provided, and your letter will be swapped with another writer.
• Star Wars Mandalorian and Grogu: Movie in the Park ✅

  Head to Universal Plaza for an evening of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu under the stars. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to save their convent, but when reporters and former fiancés Paul and Sally go undercover as a nun and priest, paranoia spreads. Add a new nun to the mix, and everyone starts wondering whether spies from Rome are out to shut them down. Expect plenty of wine, secrets, and attempts to save the convent while reconnecting with lost loves.

  Portland singer-songwriter Gina DeNoble brings her rich, soulful sound to the stage with heartfelt songs rooted in the Pacific Northwest.
